Snowy Owls will take your breath away. They’re large, first of all: when perched on a rocky outcrop they rise in a tall monolithic curve from the winter landscape. And their yellow eyes seem to drill into you. Here’s a young bird I spotted at the summit of Beech Hill in January 2014.
