Scarlet Tanager

Although they nest in my neck of the woods, I find it hard to get a good look at a Scarlet Tanager. Certainly not—living up to their name, as the males certain do in spring—because they blend in. But they tend not to arrive until the hardwoods leaf out, and they sing from high in the canopy. So this was a very good day.
