Savannah Sparrows love the open Beech Hill blueberry barrens. As soon as they arrive in spring, they take up singing, and the warming slopes ring with their delicate, insect-like trills. One April morning, I got a photo of a male in full song, perched—fittingly—against a distant barren across the way.
