The sod roof of Beech Nut, the hut at the summit of Beech Hill Preserve, might as well be a little section of the hill itself, full of lush grass and wildflowers in the warmer seasons. In 2012, a Savannah Sparrow nest fledged young up there. Occasionally an adult would make an appearance.
