In my pursuit of wild birds to photograph, I tend to gravitate toward wood fringes and tangled thickets, the preferred habitat of Gray Catbirds. During high season, I hear and see them nearly every day. Late in the season, with nestlings and fledglings, they tend to stay well hidden—but they sometimes pop up in spring.
