Every October, American Crows hold a convention on the open slopes of Beech Hill Preserve, a protected coastal hill in Maine, where I hike with my dog every day. I’m always reminded of these lines from one of E. B. White’s poems: “In their assemblies at the edge of town, crows introduce resolutions and vote them down.”
